Scholarships available at NTCC


A number of local organizations, businesses, and individuals provide scholarships to students through the Northeast Foundation.  These scholarships are awarded by the Northeast Scholarship Committee.  Contact the Financial Aid Office for information and applications.  Click here iew a list of scholarships available at Northeast Texas Community College.

Scholarships
Students interested in applying for scholarships should contact the Financial Aid Office for
applications. Academic scholarships are awarded in May for the following academic year. The application deadline is April 15 of each year.

Cyndie Amerson Honorary Nursing Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Joe and Marjorie Bernat in honor of their daughter, Cyndie Amerson, for her continuing dedication as Director of the NTCC Nursing Program. The recipient must be enrolled in the Nursing Program. The scholarship provides $300 per academic year.

Cleo Archer Memorial Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Drs. Jim and Paula Archer in memory of his mother, Cleo Archer, for non-traditional students. Financial need and academic potential considered. The scholarship provides $300 per academic year.

Jim and Paula Archer Science Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Drs. Jim and Paula Archer for students majoring in Physical, Natural Science or Pre-Professional Studies. Financial need and academic potential considered. The scholarship provides $500 per academic year.

Alan Bernat Nursing Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Alan Bernat in honor of his sister, Cyndie
Amerson, Director of Nursing at NTCC. The recipient must be enrolled in the Nursing
Program. The scholarship provides $300 per academic year.

David R. Bernat Nursing Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by David Bernat in honor of his sister, Cyndie
Amerson, Director of Nursing at NTCC. The recipient must be enrolled in the Nursing
Program. The scholarship provides $300 per academic year.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Agriculture Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the
Agriculture Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and is
awarded to students majoring in Agriculture. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be
eligible for the spring semester scholarship.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Business/Accounting Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the
Business and/or Accounting Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic
year and is awarded to students majoring in Business and/or Accounting. Students must
maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the spring semester scholarship

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Computer Science Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the
Computer Science Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and
is awarded to students majoring in Computer Science. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA
to be eligible for the spring semester scholarship.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Fine Arts Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the Fine
Arts Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and is awarded to
students majoring in Fine Arts. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the
spring semester scholarship.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat History Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the
History Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and is awarded to students majoring in History or Education. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be
eligible for the spring semester scholarship.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Journalism Scholarship
This annual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the
Journalism Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and is
awarded to students majoring in Journalism. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be
eligible for the spring semester scholarship.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Math Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the Math
Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and is awarded to
students majoring in Math. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the
spring semester scholarship.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Science Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat in honor of Dr. Jim
Archer and his continued dedication to the field of Chemistry. This scholarship provides
$300 per academic year and is awarded to students majoring in Science. Students must
maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the spring semester.

Joe and Marjorie Bernat Theatre Scholarship
This annual scholarship was provided by Joe and Marjorie Bernat to support the Theatre
Department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and is awarded to
students majoring in Theatre. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the
spring semester scholarship

Bowie Cass Electric Cooperative Scholarship
This annual scholarship was provided by the members of the Bowie Cass Electric
Cooperative. This scholarship provides $500 per academic year for a student from Bowie,
Cass, Franklin, Morris, or Titus County. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible
for the spring semester scholarship.

Betty Brock Nursing Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Betty Brock, Director of the
Nurse Science Program from 1989-91. Dr. Brock developed the Associate Degree Nursing
Program at NTCC. The scholarship is granted to the nursing student who exemplifies the
characteristics of quality, persistence, and excellence that Dr. Brock diligently worked to
instill in all of her students. This scholarship recipient is selected by the Nursing Faculty
and alternates between associate degree and vocational students.

Matt Bynum Memorial Scholarships
These perpetual scholarships were established in memory of Matt Bynum by his family.
Each scholarship provides $500 per academic year for a rodeo student. Each student must
maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the spring semester scholarship. Financial need is
a consideration.

Thomas Buncombe Caldwell III Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in honor of Thomas B. Caldwell III. The
scholarship is awarded to a sophomore student with a 3.0 GPA. Financial need is a
consideration. The scholarship provides $250 per semester

Camp County Unites for Education for Non-Traditional Students
This endowment was established by Camp County organizations, businesses, and
individuals for non-traditional students residing in Camp County for at least 12 months.
The scholarship provides $250 per semester and students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to
renew the scholarship for the next semester.

Caterpillar Foundation/DARR Equipment Diesel Technology Scholarships
In order to provide educational opportunities in the field of Diesel Technology, the
Caterpillar Foundation and DARR Equipment Company of Dallas, Texas, have established
annual scholarships for Diesel Technology students attending NTCC. To receive a
scholarship, the student must satisfactorily complete an assessment test and be accepted
into the NTCC Diesel Technology Program. Each scholarship provides $1,000.

Dr. George H. Chambers Nursing Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in memory of Dr. George Chambers by his
family. This scholarship is limited to Titus County residents. Students must be enrolled
in the ADN Program. This scholarship provides $100 per semester.

Chambers Home Health Nursing Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in memory of Dr. George Hooten Chambers by
the employees of Chambers Home Health Care in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. This scholarship
is designated for a full-time nursing student. The Scholarship provides $500 per academic
school year to be divided evenly between the fall and spring semester.

Rupert and Phoebe Lou Cobb Memorial Scholarships
This endowment was established in memory of Rupert and Phoebe Lou Cobb through
a trust set up by their family. All students are eligible to apply regardless of major area
of study. The scholarships provide from $500 to $1,000 per academic year.

William A. and Lucy W. Connor Memorial Agriculture Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established in memory of William and Lucy Connor by
the National Bank of Daingerfield. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and
is awarded to a student enrolled in the Agriculture Program. Morris County residents will
be given first preference. The student must maintain a 2.0 GPA to receive the scholarship
in the spring semester.

Continuing Education Scholarship Fund
This annual scholarship fund was established by employees of the Continuing Education
Department at NTCC. The scholarship fund is for qualified students enrolling and
accepted in Continuing Education courses. Financial need is a consideration. Please see
the Continuing Education Department for an application

Scott Crain Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established in memory of Scott Crain by Eastex Crude and
its employees. The recipient must be a Pittsburg High School graduating senior. The
student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the spring semester scholarship. This
scholarship provides $250 per semester.

Shirley Crane Memorial Nursing Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in memory of Shirley Crane and will be awarded
to an LVN or ADN Nursing Student who resides in Mt. Pleasant. The scholarship provides
$100 per semester.

Ferris N. Crawford Memorial Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established in memory of Ferris N. Crawford by his family.
Dr. Crawford was a firm believer in the mission of the community college. He was
instrumental in establishing most of the community colleges in the state of Michigan. A
$250 scholarship is awarded each fall semester to one student who intends to become
a high school Math or Science teacher.

Charles E. Diehm Memorial Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Pat and Richard Diehm in memory of their
son, Charles Diehm. The scholarship is for a student majoring in Art or Design. The
scholarship provides $500 per academic year.

W.D. Dunn Memorial Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Elayna Dunn in memory of her husband,
W.D. Dunn, for a student majoring in Computer Science. The student must be a resident
of Camp, Morris or Titus County and maintain 2.5 GPA. The scholarship provides $500
per academic year.

Emergency Medical Services Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by faculty members in the Emergency Medical
Services Program for students seeking an occupation in the Emergency Medical Services
field. The scholarship will provide up to $300 per academic year. For more information
please contact the Emergency Medical Services Department.

Faculty Senate Scholarships
This is a $500 annual scholarship available to students who have completed 30 semester
hours, reside in the state of Texas, and are not receiving any other scholarship assistance.
This scholarship may be used only for tuition and fees at NTCC.

Adam Ferris Memorial Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Stephany Ferris in memory of her son, Adam
Ferris, for a student preferably majoring in Science, Theatre, or Music. The scholarship
provides $250 per academic year. This scholarship can be used towards tuition, fees, or
books.

Fine Arts Club of Mt. Pleasant Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by members of the Mt. Pleasant Fine Arts Club
for a student preferably majoring in Fine Arts. The scholarship provides $500 per
academic year. This scholarship can be used towards tuition, fees, or books.

Charles and Sue Lynn Florio Baseball Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Charles and Sue Lynn Florio in honor of
their sons Kyle Lee and Chase Britain Florio. The student must be a regular baseball
NJCAA scholarship student. This scholarship is intended to replace an institution
scholarship, to the extent of the earnings, not in addition to the region limit on the number
of scholarships. Student is to be selected from the team by the head baseball coach based
on character and is to hold scholarship for as long as in attendance or two years. Student
is to be informed at time of award as to origin of scholarship.

Dahlia J. Gandy Nursing Mobility Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in memory of Dahlia J. Gandy by her family. The
scholarship is open to all nursing mobility students. Financial need as well as scholarship
potential is considered. Applications are available from the Nursing Department.

Phillip S. Greening History Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Ken Hanushek, a History faculty member, in
memory of his grandfather. Intended to encourage the study and appreciation of History,
this $200 scholarship is awarded each fall to the student writing the most outstanding
History essay during the previous spring. Any student, regardless of major, is eligible.

Scott and Ginger Griffin Memorial Scholarships
These perpetual scholarships were established in memory of Scott and Ginger Griffin by
their family and friends. Each scholarship provides $300 per year for a full-time theatre
student. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the spring semester
scholarship.

Christine “Ousley” Hall Baseball Scholarships
These endowed scholarships were established by the late Ms. Christine “Ousley” Hall. Ms.
“Ousley” Hall was a longtime resident of Titus County before moving to North Carolina.
She was a strong believer in education and wanted to give back to the community by leaving money in her will to provide scholarships. Many of her family members are coaches and/or strongly involved in sports. Because of this, Ms. “Ousley” Hall designated these scholarships for Athletics. Each scholarship provides tuition, fees, and books for a full-time baseball student athlete. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for the spring semester.

Charlie and Helen Hampton Education Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Helen Hampton. The
scholarship is designated for a student majoring in Education. Financial need as well as
scholarship potential is considered. The scholarship provides $500 per academic year to
be divided evenly between the spring and fall semesters.

David and Becky Hand Annual Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. David and Becky Hand. The
scholarship is designated for a student enrolled full time at NTCC. Financial need as well
as scholarship potential is considered. The scholarship provides $500 per academic year
to be divided evenly between the spring and fall semesters.

J. Hugh and Gladys Harkrider Memorial Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by the family of J. Hugh and Gladys Harkrider
in memory of their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harkrider were longtime residents of Titus
County and were the original owners of the land on which the Northeast Texas
Community College campus is located.

Phineas and Shaney Hassell Nursing Scholarship
This endowed scholarship has been provided in memory of Phineas and Shaney Hassell
to commemorate their interest in the Northeast Texas area and in the Nursing field.
Students must be second semester nursing students and have a 3.0 GPA. Students must
demonstrate financial need.

Havenstrite Criminal Justice Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Al and Sue Havenstrite for students
majoring in Criminal Justice. The scholarship provides $600 per academic year to be
divided evenly between the spring and fall semesters. The student must maintain a 2.5
GPA to be eligible for the spring semester.

Hearron Math/Science Education Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Dr. Mary Hearron and her family. The
scholarship is awarded to a sophomore student majoring in Education, preferably in the
Math/Science field. The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship provides
$250 per academic year.

Elaine Hoppock Theatre Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in memory of Elaine Hoppock by family and
friends. The scholarship provides tuition and fees for a student majoring in Theatre.

Lewis and Ina Hoppock Theatre Excellence Award
This annual scholarship is awarded to an outstanding sophomore male Theatre student.
Selection of the recipient is based upon scholastic achievement and theatre excellence.
The scholarship provides $250 per year.

Pat Horn Memorial Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established in memory of Pat Horn by his friends. The
recipient must be a Camp County resident majoring in Pre-Professional studies with an
emphasis in the Health related fields. The scholarship provides $300 per year.

International Sulphur Transfer Scholarships
These annual scholarships were established by International Sulphur, Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, for students who plan to transfer to another college after completing course work
at NTCC. To qualify students must be majoring in one of the following fields of study:
Accounting, Business, Computer Science, or Education. Students must also graduate from
NTCC, be a resident of Camp, Morris or Titus County, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Financial need is a consideration. Five recipients will receive $1,000 each. The funds will
be transferred to each students account at the selected college where they must be
enrolled as a full-time student and are to be used for expenses including tuition, fees,
books, room and board.

Travis Jackson G.E.D. Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in memory of Travis Jackson and his contribution
and support of the GED Program. The scholarship is awarded to a GED graduate from
the Northeast Texas area. The recipient must have participated in the college’s Adult
Education Cooperative Program.

Bullard and Nan Johns Memorial Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Chuck and Sarah Johns and Janie Johns
Mathis in memory of their parents Bullard and Nan Johns. The scholarship is for a non-traditional student residing in Camp County. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year.

Jordan Health Services Nursing Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by the employees of Jordan Health Services to
honor their employers, Joe and Jean Jordan. This $300 scholarship is awarded to a single
parent with a strong interest in the home health field. The recipient must be a nursing
student. Financial need is a consideration.

Dr. John S. Kennedy LVN Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established in honor of Dr. John S. Kennedy by family and
friends. This $400 scholarship is awarded to a first year nursing student with a GPA of
2.5 and is a resident of the college district.

Lake Country Chapter IAAP Scholarships
These annual scholarships were established by members of the Lake Country Chapter
International Association of Administrative Professionals. To be eligible students must be
a resident of Camp, Cass, Morris, Titus or Upshur County. The scholarships provide $250
per year to full-time students pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in the
Professional Office Services Program.

Thelma Lee Landers Memorial Nursing Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established in memory of Thelma Landers by her family. The
recipient must be enrolled in the Nursing Program and maintain a 2.0 GPA to be eligible
for the spring semester.

Lion’s Club of Pittsburg/Camp County Scholarships
These annual scholarships were established by members of the Pittsburg Lion’s Club for
non-traditional students from Camp County. These scholarships work in conjunction with
the Camp County Unites for Education scholarships.

Thomas B. Lynch Jr. English Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Thomas B. Lynch Jr., an English faculty
member. This is intended to encourage the study and appreciation of Literature and to
illustrate the significance of communication skills. This $250 scholarship is awarded each
fall to the student writing the most outstanding American Literature essay during the
previous spring.

Evyone Matthews Memorial Nursing Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by family and friends in memory of Evyone
Matthews for her many years of dedication to nursing students and the nursing
profession. The recipient must be accepted in the LVN Program to be eligible.

McCauley/Visual Arts Endowed Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship fund has been established by Dr. Dan McCauley and Friends
of NTCC to support Visual Arts scholarships. Students should contact the Visual Arts
Department for criteria and application information.

Carey and Celia McClelland Theatre Excellence Award
This annual scholarship is awarded to an outstanding sophomore female Theatre
student. Selection of the recipient is based upon scholarship achievement and Theatre
excellence. The scholarship provides $250 per semester.

Ewell W. and Bobby W. McClinton Honorary Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship is awarded preferably to a student majoring in Math, Computer Science or Physical Science. Student must be a Titus County resident. Financial need is a consideration.

E.G. McMillan Family Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was provided be E.G. and Olliedyn McMillan and family. This
scholarship provides tuition, fees and books for a full time student with financial need.
Recipient must be a resident of Morris County, preferably a graduate of Daingerfield High
School. Prefer student not to be a recipient of another scholarship. The scholarship may
continue through the student’s second year if satisfactory progress is achieved. A 2.5 GPA
is required to continue eligibility.

William L. (Billy) Means Honorary Scholarship
Mrs. Thelma Harling provided this endowed scholarship to honor Mr. William L. (Billy)
Means and to recognize his civic contributions to the Mt. Pleasant area. This scholarship
is to be applied toward tuition and fees. This scholarship is awarded to students who have
proven leadership abilities and academic potential in the fields of Business or English.

Minadeo Nursing Scholarship
This endowed scholarship has been provided by Dr. Michael Minadeo to award exceptional students in the Nursing Program. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and plan to enter the Nursing Profession. The scholarship covers tuition, fees, and books.

Mary Smith Morrison Endowed Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship has been provided to honor Mrs. Mary Smith Morrison, a long-time Mt. Pleasant resident and friend of education. This scholarship provides $175 per
semester.

Morris County Community Scholarships
These annual scholarships have been established by local businesses and individuals of
Morris County to assist covering resident tuition for eligible Paul Pewitt High and
Daingerfield High School graduates. These competitive scholarships are based on
financial need. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) to be considered for one of these scholarships. The following have provided
leadership gifts to make these scholarships a possibility: Bowie Cass, John and Janet
Bryan, Charles Cole, East Texas Medical Center, Morris County National Bank, National
Bank of Daingerfield, Northeast Texas Credit Union, Charles and Paulette Smith.

Mt. Pleasant Community Scholarship Program
This annual scholarship has been established to provide tuition for Mt. Pleasant High
School and Chapel Hill High School graduates. The scholarship will cover resident tuition
and fees for up to 12 hours for the top 10% of Mt. Pleasant and Chapel Hill graduating classes. Remaining students will receive resident tuition for up to 12 hours. Those
students will be required to pay fees. Students must enroll full-time for the fall semester
following graduation. Applications are available from the Mt. Pleasant High School and
Chapel Hill High School counselors’ office or from the NTCC Financial Aid office.

Nichole Newman Memorial Scholarship
This annual scholarship has been established in memory of Nichole Newman. The
scholarship will be awarded to a Cosmetology student. The scholarship provides $250
and is to be used for tuition, fees, and/or books. Applications are available from the
Cosmetology Department.

NET Area Physicians Nursing Scholarships
These annual scholarships were established by Dr. Manavalan Singaperumal, Dr. Jon S.
Tompkins and Dr. Ronald VanBuskirk. The scholarship is designated for a student
majoring in nursing. Financial need as well as scholarship potential is considered. Each
scholarship provides $300 per academic year to be divided evenly between the spring
and fall semesters.

NET Radiology Consultants Nursing Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Dr. George Aydelott, Dr. Milas Davis, Dr. Curtis
Evetts, and Dr. Dale Riepe, for a student enrolled in the Nursing program at Northeast
Texas Community College. The scholarship provides $1,000 per academic year and is to
be used for tuition, fees, and/or books.

NTCC Art Scholarships
These annual scholarships are awarded to Art students. Applications and information are
available from the Art Department.

NTCC Bookstore Scholarship
This scholarship was established by employees of the NTCC Bookstore. Applications and information are available in the NTCC Bookstore. The scholarship is designated for a full-time student who works in the bookstore during the academic school year.

NTCC Foundation General Academic Scholarships
These annual scholarships are provided to the college by the NTCC Foundation. All students are eligible to apply regardless of major area of study. Applications and information are available in the Financial Aid Department.

NTCC Music Scholarships
These annual scholarships are awarded to Music students. Applications and information
are available from the Music Department.

NTCC Show Team Scholarships
This annual scholarship has been established for the Show Team members who work on
the NTCC Show Team. Students must enroll full time and take an Agriculture course.
Applications and information are available from the Agriculture Department. A 2.5 GPA
is required.

Mary Bellatti Palmer Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship is available to students who have an interest in the field of
Journalism or Communications. The recipient must be a Northeast Texas area resident
and enrolled in a Journalism class to qualify. To continue the scholarship for the following
semester the student must submit two quality feature stories to the Mt. Pleasant Tribune
and maintain a 2.0 GPA. This scholarship provides $250 per semester.

Robert B. Palmer Bilingual Journalism Scholarship
This annual scholarship is available to students who have an interest in the field of
Journalism or Communications. The recipient must be a bilingual student from the Northeast Texas area and enrolled in a Journalism class to qualify. To continue the
scholarship for the following semester the student must submit two quality feature stories
to the Mt. Pleasant Tribune and maintain a 2.0 GPA. This scholarship provides $250 per
semester.

Pilgrim’s Pride Camp County Scholarships
These annual scholarships have been established by Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation for all
Camp County High School graduates. The scholarship will cover resident tuition and fees
for the top 10% of each graduating class. Remaining students will receive resident tuition.
Those students will be required to pay fees. To be eligible students must attend the fall
semester following graduation and consecutive semesters thereafter. Students must be
enrolled full-time, and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA during the first 30 hours completed,
and maintain a 2.25 cumulative GPA for hours above 30. Students are also required to
write a thank you letter and include in the letter, “how the Pilgrim’s Pride Scholarship will
help in attaining my educational goal.” Applications are available from the high school
counselor or the NTCC Financial Aid Office.

B.E. Richey Memorial Math Scholarship
This annual scholarship has been established to honor B.E. Richey. This scholarship
provides $250 per semester for a Math student.

H. Richard Romine Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship has been established in memory of H. Richard Romine. The
scholarship is to be awarded to non-traditional students from the Winnsboro, Texas area.
The scholarship provides $500 per academic year.

Dr. Reynaldo Sarmiento Nursing Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Dr. Reynaldo Sarmiento for a student
majoring in the Nursing Program at Northeast Texas Community College. The scholar-ship
provides $1,000 per academic year and is to be divided evenly between the fall and
spring semester

Scharlach/Wight Memorial Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established by Art and Jane Scharlach in the memory of
Margaret & Arthur Scharlach and Lucille & George Wight to support the Computer Science
department. This scholarship provides $300 per academic year and is awarded to
students majoring in Computer Science or Business. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Katherine C. Seale Nursing Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Katherine Seale. This scholar-ship
is awarded to a second year ADN Nursing student with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or
higher. Student must be a resident of Camp, Morris or Titus County. Financial need will
be considered in the selection process. This scholarship provides $750 per academic year.

Jim and Larue Shanahan Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established by Jim and Larue Shanahan to assist
deserving students in the Northeast Texas area. Student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to
continue eligibility for the spring semester. The scholarship provides for the cost of tuition,
fees, and books. Students whose family members are employed will be given first
preference.

Tennison United Methodist Women’s Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by the Tennison United Methodist Women’s
Organization. This scholarship provides $500 per semester. Student must be a Titus
County resident and must maintain a 3.0 GPA to continue the scholarship in the spring
semester.

Theatre Northeast Alumni Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by Theatre Northeast alumni Martin and Erica
McCord Holden and is to be awarded to outstanding freshman Theatre majors who
intend to pursue a career in Theatre. The amount of the scholarship is $500 per year and
is awarded at the discretion of the Theatre Northeast Director through audition and
interview.

Jeana Turner Scholarship
This perpetual scholarship was established in memory of Jeana Turner. Eligible students
must possess a GPA of 3.0, currently reside in the college district, and show financial need
as determined by the NTCC Financial Aid office. This scholarship provides $150 per
semester.

Twentieth Century Study Club Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by members of the Twentieth Century Study
Club of Pittsburg, Texas. The student must be from Camp County, majoring in nursing,
and be a sophomore. This scholarship provides $500 per academic year.

Florence J. Whatley Memorial Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established by James and Elizabeth Whatley in memory
of his mother for a non-traditional student living in Camp County. Student must maintain
a 2.5 GPA to continue eligibility for the spring semester. The scholarship provides for the
cost of tuition, fees, and books.

Gladys Winkle Memorial Fine Arts Scholarships
These endowed scholarships were established by the late Gladys Winkle to support
serious full-time Music and Art students. Mrs. Winkle was a resident of Pittsburg and Mt.
Vernon and a dedicated music teacher and accomplished amateur artist. She was the
daughter of Judge R.T. and Lela Nelson Wilkinson, whose parents were pioneer citizens
of the Snow Hill/Chapel Hill/East New Hope Communities. The scholarships provide for
tuition, fees, and books to two Music majors and two Art majors. Please contact the Music
and Art faculty for consideration and for the exact criteria to receive and maintain the
scholarships.

XYZ Club of Mt. Pleasant Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by members of the XYZ Club of Mount Pleasant.
The scholarship is designated for a student enrolled full time at NTCC. Financial need as
well as scholarship potential is considered. The scholarship provides $500 per academic
year to be divided evenly between the spring and fall semesters.
