NTCC named a “Great College to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education

Posted: 07.15.2009

Northeast Texas Community College recently earned two national honors as The Chronicle of Higher Education announced the results of the 2009 Great Colleges to Work For survey.

NTCC was among only 150 colleges and universities recognized by The Chronicle for specific best practices and policies. NTCC earned honors in the small college division (2,999 fewer students) for both “Confidence in Senior Leadership” and “Work-life Balance.” Only 28 two-year institutions were honored in at least one category.

“The results are encouraging. We want our college to be a great place to work. Earning national recognition for our efforts is quite an honor,” Dr. Brad Johnson, President of NTCC, said.

The results of the “Great Colleges to Work For” survey are based upon responses from nearly 41,000 administrators, faculty members and staff members representing more than 300 two and four-year colleges nationwide.

According to Jerry Henry, Director of NTCC Human Resources, “Morale is critical to high-performance organizations. The results of this survey tell me that our faculty and staff are happy and well-motivated.”

The Chronicle, based in Washington, D.C., is the number one source of news, information and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators.

“Despite the down economy, colleges are still hiring,” says Jeffrey J. Selingo, the editor of The Chronicle. “Through this program, The Chronicle is able to provide more information to job seekers about the colleges that are leading innovators when it comes to providing a rewarding work environment.”
