Accuplacer Information Texas Law requires THEA or an approved alternative test for all non-exempt undergraduate students entering Texas public institutions of higher learning.
Students must take the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) or an approved alternative test prior to enrolling in any college-level course work. ACCUPLACER is the approved alternative test offered at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC).
- What Is The Accuplacer Test and What Skills Are Tested?
Accuplacer is a computer-adaptive test measuring skills in Reading, English Grammar, Essay, Writing and Mathematics.
- Who Is Required To Take The ACCUPLACER Test?
Any student who is attempting to enroll in college-level coursework at NTCC who is not otherwise exempt from THEA requirements and those seeking to enroll in level-two certificate programs (43 or more hours) are required to test.
- How Do I Resister For The Accuplacer at Northeast Texas Community College:
Accuplacer test is administered on a walk-in basis. The fee is $36.00 for the complete test or $15.00 per section. Photo ID required to test (Drivers License, NTCC ID, or Pass Port).
- Where Do I Pay My Fees?
Testing fees must be paid with cash, credit card or money order in the Business Office. The Business Office is open Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 NOON and is located in NTCC's Administration Building. Testing Center staff will under no circumstances accept payment.
- How Long Does The Test Take To Complete?
Expect to devote 2 1/2 - 3 hours to testing. The ACCUPLACER test can be taken in sections, however, it is preferred that a student complete his/her testing in a single session.
- What Do I Need To Bring With Me To Test?
Two #2 pencils. Photo identification is mandatory! No study material, reference materials, or calculators may be used during the exam. The NTCC Testing Center will provide scratch paper. No other study aids will be allowed. Cellular telephones, beepers, and all other communication devices are strictly prohibited in the testing room.
- When Will I Get My Scores?
The objective sections of the ACCUPLACER test are scored immediately following administration. Examinees are given an UNOFFICIAL copy of scores for advisement purposes.
- Will you send my scores to another College or University?
In order to have your scores sent to another College, University or released to an individual besides yourself, please download and complete the Authorization to Release Test Scores form. Once you've completed and signed the form you can fax or mail that back to us. For your convenience the fax & mail information is available on the form.
- Payment Method:
Cash, Check or Money Order (payable to Northeast Texas Community College) Master Card, Visa, Discover, paid to NTCC.
