Emergency Medical Technician

EMT-Basic 

The EMT Basic is the entry level for EMS and provides fundamental care for patients.

1 semester (6 academic credit hours)

Offered in the Fall and Spring.  Scheduled in the daytime, evening, or on-line.   Face-to-face courses generally meet twice a week for 4 hours a session.  On-line classes meet at least 20 hours face-to-face at the end of the course for final comprehensive exam, skills testing, scenario evaluation, and clinical orientation.  As well as the classroom sessions, clinical rotations are required in all EMT programs.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

2 semesters (17 academic credit hours)

Offered concurrently with the paramedic courses.  Students must successfully complete the EMT Basic class before enrolling.
