Mrs. Whatley Biography

Mrs. Elizabeth Whatley is a longtime resident of Northeast Texas.  She and her husband, the late James Whatley, have been associated with Northeast Texas Community College since its inception in 1985.  The Whatley’s were instrumental in selecting the site on which the College is located today, on 400 acres of rolling farmland strategically centered between the three county seats of the College district.  In 2007, Mrs. Whatley made a  gift of $1.7 million to NTCC.  This is one of the largest one-time cash donations from a single individual to a community college ever recorded in the state of Texas.  Of those funds, $900,000 was used to help construct the Elizabeth Hoggatt-Whatley Agricultural Complex.  The College is deeply indebted to Mrs. Whatley for this extremely generous gift.  To see a picture of Mrs. Whatley cutting the dedicatory ribbon for the Ag Complex, follow this link.
