Beginning Keyboard for Kids - PITTSBURG

Beginning piano keyboarding class for the young beginner, grades 3-5. Students will learn to play and recog¬nize rhythms, read musical notation, understand basic music theory, learn proper technique at the piano and play elementary pieces. Parental involvement is a must for the young beginner. We ask that a parent attend the first group piano class and help monitor practice sessions at home. A digital keyboard or acoustic piano at home is required to enhance learning.

Keyboard for Kids Part II - PITTSBURG
Taking it to the next level. Student should have completed the Piano I class or have had some piano lessons before and has familiarity and experience with piano.

Dates: Mondays 9/08-12/1 No of classes: 12

Beginning Piano for Adults - PITTSBURG
It’s never too late to learn how to play the piano! For the beginner (or folks who are a bit rusty on the keys) to cover basic piano skills. The class is taught on keyboards using headphones. Come join to deepen your enjoyment of music!

Community Choir - For those interested in singing, Luke Dean will direct a Community Choir in the Fall semester.  The 16 week course will run from August 18 through December 15.  The class will meet on Monday evenings on the NTCC campus from 6 – 8:30 p.m.  Tuition for this course is $75.   The community choir will teach and strengthen the vocal ability for all ages, and provide quality music for the public.  Repertoire for the Winter concert will include Vivaldi's Gloria, with traditional carols and popular songs rounding out the program. The spring season will include Faure's Requiem and some more modern American pieces.   To register for this course, please call continuing education at 903-434-8134.

Instrumental Ensemble is open to students of ALL ages and will be taught by Jimmy Jones.  This one hour credit course will be taught on Thursday evenings.  Students registering for this class will be grouped according to ability. Mr. Dick Eckstein will teach a Jazz Ensemble course that will be offered on Tuesday evenings, 6-9 p.m.  Each of these courses may be applied to a degree and transferred.

Guitar Class, also taught by Professor Daniels is designed for intermediate-advanced players and will focus on reading, theory and advanced classical techniques.  The class will meet weekly on Mondays, beginning September 8 through December 1 from 7-9 p.m.
