For the 10th straight year, Cypress Bank has presented a MacBook computer for the use of Northeast Texas Community College honors students. This year’s recipient is Jordan Whelchel.  He is a recent graduate of Daingerfield High School who already has become active in Honors film and Phi Theta Kappa activities at NTCC. Whelchel plans to major in physics.

Cypress, the oldest Camp-County-based bank, has four locations in Mount Pleasant, Pittsburg, Lone Star and Commerce. Pictured, Vice President Billie Sue Hanson (right), head of the Lone Star branch, presents Whelchel with his computer.

In any given semester, Honors Northeast constitutes 20 top students of the college.  Since 2010, the students of this program have secured over 30 national awards, including seven exclusive Jack-Kent-Cooke full-ride scholarships.  For more information about the program, contact Director, Dr. Andrew Yox, at 903-434-8229 or ayox(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)
