SIFE to host 5K Reindeer Run/Walk

The Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization at Northeast Texas Community College will host a 5K Reindeer Run/Walk event on Saturday, Dec. 10. The run will be held on the NTCC campus and begins at 8 a.m.

Registration will be held in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus from 7:00-7:30 a.m. The cost to participate is $25 for all ages, and includes a t-shirt and a pancake breakfast after the run. An early bird registration fee of $20.00 is good through December 2, 2011.

“This is the fourth year that SIFE has sponsored a 5K. This year, participants will be timed through a chipped timed system in order to provide the most accurate and efficient race results. We want to invite runners and walkers of all levels to come out and participate. This event isn’t about competition.  It’s about supporting an active student organization and socializing with people who want to have a great time getting some healthy exercise,” Joy Cooper, SIFE co-sponsor said.

All proceeds from the run will help SIFE fund local community service projects. “The NTCC SIFE team contributes their talents to local as well as global projects focused on leadership and community service. Fundraisers like the 5K run help make it possible for the students to make a difference.” Cooper said.
