The Northeast Texas Community College Theatre Department will present Antigone Now, a modern take on the classic Greek drama, Thursday through Friday April 25-27 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus.
Performances will be held nightly at 7:30 p.m. with an added 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at whatleycenter.com/tickets or at the box office upon arrival.
In the midst of a bombed-out city still feeling the aftershocks of war, the rebellious and intense Antigone defies her uncle to bury her disgraced brother. This contemporary response to the myth of Antigone brings powerful, modern prose to an ancient and universal story. The NTCC performance is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.
“Our students have been working very hard on this production and we can’t wait to perform it for the community. It is really fun to take something as timeless as the myth of Antigone and apply it to our modern era,” Dr. Page Petrucka, Director and Associate Professor of Theatre, said.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 18, seniors and members of the military. Admission is free for NTCC students with current ID.
