HESI LPN-ADN Entrance Exam  

The test has 75 questions designed to be used as an exam for currently Licensed Practical/Vocational nurses seeking entrance in an Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. Most students will complete the test in 90 minutes. The test will take approximately 2 hours to complete, but it is not a timed test.

The exam identifies their strengths and weaknesses in PN/VN content areas, and the possible need for remediation prior to entrance into an ADN program.

The LPN to RN Entrance Exam covers:

  • Fundamentals
  • Pediatric Nursing
  • Maternity
  • Medical-Surgical
  • Psychiatric/Mental Illness
  • Professional Issues

A computer based calculator will be available during the exam.

A score of 850 will be required to be eligible to apply to the LPN to RN Completion Program.

The cost of the exam is $60.00.

The  HESI LPN-ADN  is available by appointment only.  You will not be tested on a walk-in or stand-by basis under any circumstances.  Appointments can be made by calling the Testing Center. 

 Review Material

Currently there isn’t a review book for this exam. Students are encouraged to review previous nursing coursework material. Sections Covered on this exam: Nursing Process; Client Needs; Individual Subject Areas (i.e., Community Health, Fundamentals, Maternity, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Medical Surgical, Pathophysiology, Professional Issues, and Psychiatric/Mental Health).  The NCLEX-PN Review book can be used to prepare for this exam.
