Effective Immediately the Dental Hygiene program will NOT admit any new students and will close the program when the existing students complete their studies in 2015.

 

Debra Jo Johnson, RDH, PH.D.

Current position: Program Director

Experience: Dr. Johnson joined the NTCC Dental Hygiene program as its Director in October 2012. NTCC recruited Dr. Johnson from the west coast where her experience includes more than 30 years of clinical and didactic teaching experience in dentistry across southern California colleges, universities, and health science centers. The following is a list of institutions with which Dr. Johnson has been affiliated throughout her teaching career: UCLA, USC, West Los Angeles, Cerritos, Cypress, and Southwestern Community Colleges, and the West Los Angeles V.A. Medical Center Periodontal Residency program. Dr. Johnson has spent more than 30 years in periodontal private practice as a dental hygienist, as well as 7 years in general practice, 3 years in prosthodontics private practice, and 4 years in practice consulting. Throughout her career, Dr. Johnson has served her local, state, and regional professional organizations as officers and delegates; she has also served on the boards of the California Dental Hygiene Educators, the Western Society of Periodontology, the Oral B Advisory Board, and Francis Parker School Parents' Association. Dr. Johnson broadly oversees the NTCC dental hygiene program including all program faculty and courses; she will be teaching DHYG 1315 Community in the 2013 fall semester.
