Blackboard InformationWhat is Blackboard?
Blackboard Learn 9.1 (or simply Blackboard or Bb) is a learning management system with over 35 unique tools for use in 24/7 online education activities. It is used for online courses, hybrid courses, and as an enhancement to face-to-face courses. Blackboard makes use of Java and requires some changes to your browser settings for the best results. If you do not have Java, you can download the latest version for free at the Java website.Logging into Blackboard
If you login to the myEagle portal, you will not need to login separately to Blackboard. You can simply click on the Blackboard button on the Launchpad. Your login to Blackboard and the myEagle portal, i.e., the username portion of their NTCC Eagle Mail address (email@example.com) as their username and their date of birth in an 8-digit format, mmddyyyy, as the password. The default format for your NTCC Eagle Mail username is first name initial + last name + last 3 digits of SSN. For example, if your NTCC Eagle Mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org, your Blackboard login will be jjackson678. Your password is your 8-digit date of birth, mmddyyyy.Access to Blackboard Courses
Students will not be able to login to any courses offered on Blackboard prior to the first class day of the semester unless the instructor has requested early access.Using Blackboard For the First Time?
Each instructor may select the tools they use in each individual course, so be prepared to see a βnewβ tool pop-up from one class to another. One instructor may elect to use Blackboard for only class mail and the posting of grades, while others will use every tool available, so be flexible. If you have any questions about how to operate in a particular class, be sure you contact the instructor for that specific class. It is normally best to use Blackboard mail to do this.
