The members of NTCC STEM Club served as judges for the Region 8 Science Fair held at Region 8 Education Service Center on February 8, 2024.  There were 195 total entries representing students in grades 4 – 8 and high school from 22 school districts participating.

Dr. Chris McAllister (NTCC Biology) and two NTCC independent research students, George Burrows and Michael Rodriguez spent spring break doing parasitology research on fishes of northeastern Arkansas. They were fortunate to have colleagues (see group photo) along to help teach different techniques and the students learned a great deal from their tutelage.

Northeast Texas Community College Softball is preparing to start conference games on Saturday, March 16th, weather dependent. NTCC finished up the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday, March 12th with a split vs Midland College.

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will host the Mount Pleasant Art Society Annual Membership Show March 9th-29th in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The competitive show features artwork from a variety of local artists. A reception will be held Saturday, March 9th from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center Foyer.

Last weekend in College Station, NTCC honors-student essayists won their 33rd, 34th, 35th, and 36th Caldwell essay awards in Texas history. Together, these essays came with $675 in prize money, and established the current cohort of NTCC honors students as second to none in the history of NTCC, in terms of regional scholarly competition. Though NTCC traditionally has fared best with scholars in the under-sixty-hour, freshman-sophomore division, this year, for the first time, NTCC students won a record three Caldwell Awards in the upper, over-sixty-hours division.
