
The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees held its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Student Spotlight
The board recognized members of Alpha Mu Chi, NTCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter (pictured). Co-Advisor Dr. Maryna Svirska Otero introduced the group and shared PTK’s mission of promoting academic achievement and leadership. Students in attendance were: LaDarrius Patterson, Ian Mares, Hailey Randall, Emma Mendoza, Jose Fuentes, Alison Majors, Andrew Higgins, Araceli Landaverde, and Sarah Hamlin.

President’s Report
- Two Title V grants will be discontinued after this month; the college is working to reduce the impact.
- Continuing Education graduated 14 students from it's 13-week Veterinary Assistant program on August 28 and began its second cohort of 11 students in the HVAC Installer Helper program.
- Dr. Kevin Rose and Dr. Anna Ingram attended the annual Honors Roundup where Honors Northeast welcomed 11 freshmen and 10 returning sophomores and their families back to campus for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Welcome Back Week drew strong student participation from across students, faculty, and staff.
- Dr. Jon McCullough represented NTCC’s Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute at the Texan Concours, a high-profile automotive industry event in the Dallas metroplex. He anticipates this will be an outstanding recruiting opportunity moving forward.
- NTCC Men’s Soccer earned the United Coaches Team Academic Award, a nationally recognized award for programs whose student athletes have a composite GPA of 3.0 or higher
- NTCC Foundation reported $73,325.75 in August gifts, including $25,000 from the Carroll Shelby Foundation.
Information Items
- Kim Irvin reported that Fall enrollment hit an all-time high with 3,527 students (12% increase over Fall 2024). There was a 2.5% increase in credit hours.
- Annual Title IX/Harassment compliance report: one case investigated in the past year.
- Preparations continue for NTCC’s 40th Anniversary Community Picnic on Oct. 4.
Action Items
- Approved consent agenda.
- Board voted to evenly split votes between all candidates in upcoming Morris County and Titus County Appraisal Districts Board of Director elections.
- Approved contract releases for two positions.
- Formed a new Audit Subcommittee chaired by Kerry Wootten.
The meeting concluded with an executive session on real estate.
