Northeast Texas Community College has begun construction on a new covered pavilion in the Student Activities Complex that will expand recreation and wellness opportunities for students.
Located between the college's baseball and softball fields, the pavilion will cover the existing multipurpose court and feature upgraded lighting, a resurfaced playing area, two basketball goals, and court striping for basketball, pickleball, and futsal. The project also includes improvements to the adjacent sand volleyball court. Stansell Construction of Mount Pleasant is serving as the project's contractor. The pavilion is expected to open in time for the Fall 2026 semester.
The project was made possible through the generosity of the David and Pat Sistrunk estate.
"This project is another great example of how generous donors enhance the student experience at NTCC," said Dr. Jon McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement. "We're excited to give our students a new space to stay active, connect with one another, and enjoy campus life outside the classroom. We are deeply grateful to the David and Pat Sistrunk estate for making this project possible. Their legacy will benefit students for years to come."
Designed as a versatile outdoor gathering space, the pavilion will support recreation, intramural activities, and special events while providing protection from the elements. The project reflects NTCC's ongoing commitment to investing in a vibrant campus experience.
Additional updates will be shared as construction progresses throughout the summer.
