Beverly Austin wins prestigious State Star Award for SBDC

Beverly Austin was honored with the †2012 State Star Award at an awards ceremony Tuesday night in New Orleans before representatives of 50 states, the U.S. territories and the Organization of American States. † The State Star Award acknowledges extraordinary efforts to achieve and support the goals and mission of the North Texas SBDC Network. †Beverly was selected from peer nominations recognizing service excellence in the following areas:

Exemplary performance and commitment to small business

Demonstrated economic development achievements

Significant contribution to the Network program

Dedication to furthering North Texas SBDC's mission

Beverly met the challenge of achieving the goal of rebranding Northeast Texas SBDC from pre-venture services to providing quality resources for growth companies. Beverly's targeted services accelerated business growth for entrepreneurs in Northeast Texas counties resulting in the increase in economic accomplishments for our center by 100%.

Beverly has served as Business Advisor with the SBDC since 2009. In her three plus years with the SBDC, Beverly's clients created and retained over 75 jobs and report over 9 million dollars in capital infusion. †According to Tim Wilson, Director of the Northeast Texas SBDC, "Beverly is a visionary and an extremely valuable asset, injecting her synergy and creativity into every process."
