Two former Northeast Texas Community College Eagle baseball players earned high praise this summer as Shane Segovia (Missouri) and Mark Robinette (Oklahoma State) were named to Perfectgame.org?s Top Summer League Baseball Prospect List.
Segovia and Robinette both played with the St. Joseph Mustangs this summer, the winner of the MINK (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas) college summer baseball league.
Segovia was named the League?s No. 2 prospect after hitting .331 with 21 RBI and 13 walks while Robinette was named the league?s No. 11 prospect after hitting .312 with 30 RBI and 17 walks.
?It?s great to see our players go on and do well down the line,? Eagles? Head Baseball Coach Josh Stewart said. ?We do our best to help players improve while they are with us here at NTCC and it is always a plus to see them continue to do well after they leave.?
A third baseman with the Eagles, Segovia hit .295 with NTCC last season while helping lead the team to a regular season conference championship. Segovia added 16 RBI and scored 28 runs while finishing second on the team in doubles with nine in the 2012 spring season.
Robinette hit .305 with five RBI and 11 walks in his final season with the Eagles in the spring of 2011. He finished his career with the Eagles in 2011 before moving on to Oklahoma State. A pitcher and first baseman with the Eagles, Robinette was 1-4 with a 4.30 ERA for the Eagles in 2011. He also led the team in strikeouts with 38.
?We are really proud when are players move on and do so well,? Stewart said. ?Hopefully, this is something that we will be seeing a lot more of in the near future.?
