Galveston beats Blinn in 13 innings

The Galveston College Whitecaps managed to remain undefeated in the Region XIV Baseball tournament as they defeated Blinn College 2-1 in 13 late-night innings. This was the fourth game of the tourney to require extra innings. The game lasted around four hours and finally wrapped up around 2:30 a.m.

Galveston will move on to face San Jacinto on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a fight to remain undefeated in the tournament. Blinn will face Alvin College at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Blinn got on the board first thing, scoring one in the top of the first. That was the only action for some time. Galveston plated a run of their own to tie things up in the bottom of the fifth.

The next seven innings were a pitcher?s duel and neither team scored. Galveston got on base in the bottom of the 13th with a single by Giusti. He advanced to second on a ground out. Navarro singled to right field, allowing Giusti to score for the win.

Navarro and Sullivan led the Galveston offense with two hits each. Revilla was credited with the win on .1 innings pitched.† Butler and Plitt also pitched and combined for 13 strikeouts in the game.

Kane and Wood led the bats for Blinn with two each. Boss also contributed a double. DeLeon got the loss for Blinn on four innings pitched. He gave up four hits, one run, walked one and struck out two.
