Navarro beats Galveston to play San Jacinto for chance at title

The Navarro Bulldogs fought out of the loser?s bracket for a chance to face an undefeated San Jacinto College team Thursday afternoon in the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament. Navarro came alive late in the game to eliminate Galveston College 6-3

The Bulldogs will face San Jacinto again today at 5 p.m. in what could be the championship game. If Navarro wins, it will force a final game on Friday at 1 p.m.

Neither team scored during the first three innings of the Navarro/Galveston match up. Navarro got on the board first with a single run in the bottom of the fourth.

Galveston answered with one run of their own in the top of the fifth, tying it up 1-1. No runs were scored in the sixth and seventh before both offenses came alive in the eighth.

Galveston scored two in the top of the inning and Navarro answered with five additional runs. The score was 6-3 going into the ninth. Navarro held them scoreless in the top of the ninth to end the game.

Jake Sutton led the Navarro offense with three hits. Kaleb Goodell had two hits, including a double. Brode Boyd and Brett Doe also hit singles for Navarro

Brian Cruz and Kyle Giusti led the Galveston hitters with two hits each.
