NTCC men?s rodeo team won third overall at the Texas A&M Kingsville Rodeo two weeks ago, adding another 150 points to their region standings. Those extra points helped the Eagles? ride up to the top when it comes to making the finals.
Dustin Jackson lit up the scoreboard taking home third place in the all-around men?s division. Jackson also received sixth in Saddle bronc event and second in the Bareback event.
Along with Jackson, Tim Bingham won the bull riding division while Wacey Hathcock received fourth in the saddle bronc event and Kyler Bramhall won fifth in the team roping heeler.
?This gives us great cushion going into the last three rodeos of the season,? Head Rodeo Coach C.J. Mohl said.
The women?s team also attended the Texas A&M Kingsville Rodeo and went home with fifth place overall in the women?s division.
Sadie Johnson received fourth place all around in the women?s division as well as receiving seventh in the goat-tying event and fifth in team roping header.
Mohl said he has confidence in the performance of his athletes.
?I look forward to the teams finishing strong this semester,? Mohl said.
With three rodeos left in the season the men?s team is currently second overall in the region standings and the women?s hold the fifth place spot.†Both teams have 11 members competing in individual region events.
In the men?s division Dustin Jackson in the men?s all around, which includes saddle bronc, bareback and team roping header. Tim Bingham in bull riding, Wacey Hathcock and Slater Hunnicutt in saddle bronc, Charles Henderson and Kyler Bramhall in tie down and Zack Bocco and Jaret Nobles in team roping heeler.
Coach Mohl said if they continue their momentum going forward he expects to take a full men?s rodeo team to the College National Finals Rodeo this semester.
?If we can continue the momentum and focus at the next three rodeos, there is no doubt in my mind they will all make it to Casper in June,? Mohl said.
In the women?s division Bradey Beene is in the region standings for breakaway roping and Sadie Johnson for goat tying.
?I?m very proud of all of them this year and look forward to the rest of the season,? Mohl said. ?It?s always exciting and stressful this time of year so I would ask that everyone support the Eagle Rodeo athletes as they wind down the season.?
