Understanding Accuplacer, developmental courses at NTCC

Planning or thinking of becoming a college student?

Did you know one of the first steps toward becoming a college student includes taking an exam to measure college readiness?† †This exam, called Accuplacer will measure reading, writing and math skills.† It is not a pass/fail instrument, rather one that assesses your current skills and places you in either college level or developmental level courses as indicated by your scores.† What is the result should you not pass all three sections?† It means that you, along with many other entering college students will be required to enroll in a developmental reading, writing, and/or math classes PRIOR to enrolling in college level courses.† Depending upon your test score you could be required to take Reading 0301 or Reading 0302; English 0301 or English 0302; and in Math, your score could place you at Math 0301, 0303 or 0305.† Taking these courses in the summer and/or as soon as possible considerably shortens the educational journey, saving you money and time.† Use the summer wisely.† Get a jumpstart on your college career.

So here are the top six reasons to register for the Accuplacer and to get started with developmental classes this summer!
