Ag to host final fall Farmer's Market

It is finally fall in east Texas and with the delight of the deliciously cool temperatures we are all reminded of the holidays that are soon to come!† The final Northeast Texas Community College Farmer?s Market of the season will have those holidays in mind as we celebrate the harvest, by gathering the greens and preparing the pumpkins on Friday, Nov. 7 from 9 am to 2 pm.† All are welcome to join us to begin their holiday shopping right.† Vendors of locally raised honey, produce, eggs, pork, and even ?Thanksgiving Turkey?s? will be here to provide the foundation foods to any holiday feast!

In fact, NTCC students will be selling fall vegetable and herb plants that you can still get in the ground and harvest by Christmas time.† Perhaps you have that hard to purchase for family member on your Christmas list that would love to have their own backyard garden or greenhouse.† Demonstrations of how to grow food through the winter in a small greenhouse will have you or your family member eating ?fresh? all winter long.

If you are looking for your first ?taste? of fall then don?t miss out on the menu planned for this market meal.† The Chicken Tortilla Soup, pumpkin bread pudding, and hot apple cider will be just what you need to inspire your own holiday meals! Join us and eat in the wonderful facility or call ahead and order yours to go!

Local growers are encouraged to come out, learn to present their products, test the markets with various products all at the wonderful setting of the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Ag Complex and Pavilion located at 2886 FM 1735 just 6 miles outside of Mt. Pleasant, TX on the beautiful rural campus of NTCC.
