Baseball wins conference opener against Paris

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team is off to a strong start after winning their conference opener against Paris Junior College 4-1 on Thursday.

Neither team put any runs on the board until a series of errors by Paris in the top of the fifth led to the Eagles gaining a three-run advantage. A walk, a balk, and a batter being hit by pitch loaded the bases, putting NTCC in scoring position. This was followed by an error by the Paris shortstop, which allowed Connor Drake and Hunter Southerland to score. Connor Hall drove Christian Padin home before the end of the inning. Both teams put one more run on the board before the end of the ninth with Zach Osborne picking up the win for the Eagles and Dalton Algiene taking the save.

The Eagles face Paris Junior College again for a doubleheader at noon on†Saturday, March 1 in Paris. They return the following weekend for a three-game series against Bossier Parish Community College on March 7-8 at NTCC.†Follow the baseball team on Twitter @NTCC_Baseball and visit†www.ntcceagles.com†for schedules, rosters and more.
