Eagles softball dominates Ranger College in four-game series

The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Eagles softball team dominated Ranger College during Friday and Saturday?s four game series, improving their record to 6-2 for the season.



† † † †The first two innings of game one on Friday were stalemates, with sophomore infielder Chelcey Faglie driving in the first and only runs of the game in the bottom of the third. Freshman pitcher, Hadley Dixon, maintained the lead for the Eagles, who won the game 2-0.



† † † †Friday?s game two got off to an explosive start as the Eagles gave up two early runs, but rallied to take a 9-0 lead into the third inning. Ranger attempted a comeback, scoring four more runs by the top of the fourth, but NTCC freshman pitcher Caitlin Lites was able to pitch her way out of the jam.



† † † †The Eagles added another six runs by the top of the fifth as Sophomore Pitcher Abigail Jobe got the win for the Eagles, who won 14-6.


Lites returned to the mound for the first game on Saturday and immediately shut down the Ranger offense.



† † † †The Eagles scored quickly in the third game and led Ranger 7-1 by the top of the third. and earning three††more runs before the fifth. Lites picked up another win as the Eagles won 10-2.



† † † †The Eagles started off the last game of the weekend series with a 2-1 lead by the end of the first inning, holding there until the bottom of the fourth when they added four runs to go up 6-1. Dixon jumped in for the save and Jobe finished out Saturday?s second game as the Eagles won 7-3.



† † † †The Eagles travel to Lufkin to play Angelina college at 2 p.m. on Monday,††making up a game that was originally scheduled for February 5, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather. They return at 1 p.m. on Wednesday to face North Central Texas College at home before they head to Weatherford College to participate in a tournament February 21-22.
