The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Men?s Eagles Soccer team remains undefeated with a record of 6-0 after knocking off both Coastal Bend College and Laredo Community College this past week. The Eagles are ranked fifth overall in the nation according to this week's NJCAA National Poll.

Coastal Bend scored their first and only goal against the Eagles 26 minutes into Friday?s game. Rimario Gordon tied the score with an assist by Sergio Cavazos seven minutes later. Gordon again put a point on the board 55 minutes into the second half assisted by Yannick Koffi, with the team adding 4 more points by the end of the game. Koffi scored the final goal assisted by Jake Winship to give the Eagles a 6-1 victory.

Laredo scored the first goal of Sunday?s game within the first minute of the opening kick. Eagle?s fielder Koffi was hot on their heels, tying the game seconds later with an unassisted goal. The Eagles added four more goals to the score before Laredo began to gain traction with two goals scored minutes before the end, but it was too little, too late and the game ended with a 5-3 win for the Eagles.

?We are a young team and we have a way to go. It is inspiring to see the potential we have, but the team still has a lot to learn about how to read one another during a game. We are undefeated right now, but we are going to have to keep working hard to hold on to that record and not get complacent,?†Eagles Head Soccer Coach Donovan Dowling said.

The Men face Richland College at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11 in Dallas, followed by a home game against San Jacinto at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
