NTCC Softball breaks winning streak against North Central

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) softball team dropped†both games of†a double header against North Central Texas College on Wednesday. The losses broke a six-game winning streak for the Eagles.

Sophomore infielder Alizabeth Autrey scored the first run of the game after an error by North Central?s third baseman. Neither team scored again until the bottom of the fourth when Kelsey Moulder hit a solo home run for the Eagles. North Central put four runs on the board in the fifth and one more in the seventh, defeating the Eagles 5-2 .

Game two saw North Central take the lead with three runs in the first inning. Morgan Dison scored the first run of the game for the Eagles in the†bottom of the†first and Emily Burkhardt added another in the third. North Central put five more runs on the board by the seventh, defeating the Eagles 8-2

While the losses were disappointing, team members said that they have a better understanding of where they need to improve.

?I feel like we didn?t hit the ball as well as we could have, we are going to focus on hitting and work on getting our timing at the plate down,? sophomore outfielder Brittany Avila said.

Sophomore Brianna Williams added that their defense was ?pretty solid,? but echoed Avila?s comments about hitting.

The Eagles will be back in action starting at noon on†Friday, Feb. 21 for a two-day, four game series at Weatherford college against Weatherford, Hill and Howard colleges. They take the field at 1 p.m. on†Wednesday, Feb. 26 for a game against Angelina College at NTCC.
