Eagles baseball sweeps BPCC

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team volleyed the lead nine times on Wednesday before coming out on top for a 6-5 win over Bossier parish Community College (BPCC) at Eagle Field.





The Eagles finally managed to grab the lead after a strong tenth inning. The Eagles went up for good on an RBI single by Connor Hall, plating Casey Dickerman. An RBI single by Hall scored Dickerman to give the NTCC Eagles the lead for good.†Tim Winders got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered three hits.





In the top of the first, BPCC grabbed the early lead, 1-0. The Eagles answered BPCC's top inning with one run of their own in the first, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Christian Padin.†The Eagles matched their one-run fourth inning with one more in the seventh. BPCC brought home two runs in the sixth inning, and matched that run total in the Tenth.The Eagles never surrendered the lead after the tenth inning. The runs piled on thanks to a groundout by Garrett Douglas and two singles.





The Eagles were back in action against BPCC on Monday when Carlos Roman went 2-3 and hit a home run, sparking the Eagles to a 7-4 victory in seven innings at Eagle Field. Tanner Buxton struck out eight hitters en route to the the Eagle victory. Buxton allowed one earned run, five hits and five walks over seven innings.





One run in the top of the fifth helped BPCC close its deficit to 4-2 but the Eagles tacked on another three runs in the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when Cory Duran singled, plating Johnnuelle Ponce. That was followed up by Tristan Graham's double, bringing home Duran and Connor Hall.†The teams quickly regrouped for the second half of the double-header but BPCC couldn?t pull out a victory with the Eagles scoring three runs in the seventh to cap a 12-6 win.





The Eagles scored in the seventh on a single by Connor Hall, an RBI single by Christian Padin, and an RBI single by Austin Griffin.†The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to nine lead changes in the game.†The Eagles finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning, scoring on an RBI single by Tristan Graham, bringing home Dayne Sommer.†Brendan Keany got the win in relief for the NTCC Eagles. Keany pitched two innings and allowed two runs.





The Eagles will be back in action at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23 for a game against Panola College before returning to Eagle Field for a double header starting at 1 p.m. The Eagles then travel for a 2 p.m. game against Paris Junior College on Thursday, April 30 before returning to Eagle Field for a double-header starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
