The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will host a new gallery exhibit October 6-30 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit, entitled Refined by Fire, will feature pottery by Karen Lowrey. Lowrey is†a potter and sculptor from Longview who creates one-of-a-kind hand made vessels. She has been a potter for over ten years and loves†to express herself as she connects with nature and the earth around her.† She uses her life experiences to influence her artwork while always being in awe of the influence of fire on her clay and glazes.††A reception with the artist will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Whatley Foyer. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call ahead to 903-434-8181 to ensure the gallery is open.
