Students and faculty of Honors Northeast, the honors program of Northeast Texas Community College, recently took a cultural trip to the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. This is the tenth year that Honors Northeast has taken a fall trip thanks to a gift from Drs. Jim and Paula Archer and a matching grant from the†I.B.M. corporation.

This year?s trip included a viewing of the long-horn cattle drive down Exchange Avenue in Fort Worth?s Stockyard district, efforts to navigate the Cattle Pen Maze, a look at the Water Gardens of downtown Fort Worth, lunch at the Reata Restaurant in Sundance Square, a visit to the Kimbell Art Gallery, as well as the steel slab echo-chamber of the 67-foot high sculpture,†Vortex.†Finally, students enjoyed a dance with Tarrant College Cornerstone Honors on the northwest side of Fort Worth.

Thanks to the energy and finesse of NTCC Honors students, Northeast won a†?dance battle? against peers at Tarrant County College. Adriana Rodriguez, and Rachel Jordan of NTCC also won special individual awards for their moves on the dance floor.

Northeast students who attended the trip were (bottom to top, left to right): Kassandra Martinez, Alecia Spurlin, Rachel Jordan, Adriana Rodriguez, Chesney Davis, Emmalea Shaw, William Jones, Cassidy Watkins, Chelsea Chalk, Cailee Davidson, Samantha Hammonds, Yezenia Cedillo, Leivy Zuniga, Brenda Godoy, and Aubry Buchanan. †Honors advisors Drs. Hearron and Yox also attended.
