While the majority of the country was sheltering in place this week, volunteers from the Northeast Texas Community College Social Work Club were conducting curb-side delivery Thursday at the Eagle Pantry.

The Eagle Pantry, which began last fall, offers currently-enrolled NTCC students and their families an opportunity to receive food on a weekly basis. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, hours may vary. Please check the NTCC Social Work Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NTCCSWC for the latest updates.

"Many of our students and their families experience food insecurity on a regular basis. These are challenging times for everyone and we fear that the need is only going to increase," Carmen Shurtleff, NTCC Advisor for the Social Work Club and food pantry organizer, said. "I am so thankful for the donations we have received and I'm proud of the social work students who have stepped up to organize a safe way to continue our mission with social distancing."

The Eagle Pantry is housed in the NTCC Wesley Fellowship building. Food donations can be dropped off in containers at the center or donations can be made online at www.ntcc.edu/givenow (specify donation for the Eagle Pantry).

"I realize these are hard times for everyone, but if you are able to make a donation it is much appreciated. We hope to be able to serve everyone who has a need," Shurtleff said.
