On August 11, three NTCC students presented their chemistry research at a symposium held at Texas A&M Commerce. Jonathan Wilcox, John Rodriguez, and Jordin Chapin were selected to participate in a 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). These research experiences engage students in meaningful chemistry research alongside graduate students in the research labs and are funded by the National Science Foundation. All three were chemistry students of Dr. Drew Murphy, who recommended they apply for the REU.

The students were tasked to present a 15-minute presentation over their work and to prepare and present a poster for their research project. Some of the REU students will continue on to present their work at the regional ACS meeting in November.

Jonathon Wilcox is transferring to Commerce as a chemistry major. John Rodriguez is transferring to UT Austin in biomedical engineering. Jordin Chapin will complete her associates degree in chemistry at NTCC during the 2022-23 school year.
