These students were on their second field outing and continued their investigations on parasites of fish from the lower Ouachita River watershed. Several noteworthy findings were found including novel gill and gallbladder myxosporeans in grass pickerel, freckled madtom, dollar sunfish, and highland stoneroller.

Dr. Mac said that the discoveries from this trip ranked at the top of field outings he has made with current and former NTCC students on research trips. The group hopes to travel to southeastern Oklahoma for their next research outing.
