The NTCC men's soccer team closed out their 2025 slate of home games with a 1-1 tie vs UAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Eagles came out flying out shooting their opponents 22 - 9 in the game.  They got on the board in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a hustle play from  Sophomore midfielder Tiago Cuero.  Cuero outraced everyone from his wide midfield position to tap in a loose ball to put the home side out in front. Although it looked like the Eagles would take off from there they went into the break holding on to the 1-0 lead.

The Eagles continued to dominate the possession and won the shooting battle, yet were unable to add to the total due to solid play in goal for UAC.

The second half was better for the visitors and they were able to capitalize on some poor marking from NTCC to level the score at 1-1 in the 65th minute.

The Eagles rallied and created multiple chances for themselves but were unable to find a winner and would settle for the 1-1 tie on sophomore day.

GAME NOTES:

Freshman Antony Funes stepped up for the team and went the distance in goal.

Sophomore Tiago Cuero scored his first career goal.

FROM THE COACH:

"UAC is a worthy opponent and a well-coached team on the rise. Our tough region schedule prepares us for these non-conference matches."

"The guys have stuck together and have been steady in their approach through a difficult set of circumstances this season.  I'm proud of the discipline we have shown defending without fouling.  That's 3 games in a row now without unnecessary cards. It's also a great sign that we are creating good shots for each other and have to keep believing that they will start to find the back of the net."

"We have a big week ahead, we can celebrate our sophomores tonight,  then we must recover and have a good week of preparation to go on the road and get 2 results in preparation for tournament play."
