Northeast Texas Community College Director of Student Development Ja’Quacy Minter has been elected to serve as advisor-elect for the Texas Junior College Student Government Association (TJCSGA) Region III.
In this role, Minter will represent NTCC and help guide student government programs at 13 community colleges across East Texas, including Angelina College, Kilgore College, Paris Junior College, Tyler Junior College and others. As advisor-elect, he will assist with board duties, expenditures and regional activities before transitioning into the head advisor role next year.
“I’m truly excited to represent NTCC and Region III in this new capacity,” Minter said. “This is a huge honor, and I’m thrilled that our Eagle Senate SGA will serve as the example college for the region.”
Since joining NTCC in 2024, Minter has revitalized the college’s Student Government Association, transforming it into the Eagle Senate SGA. Under his leadership, student participation and engagement have increased significantly, creating new opportunities for student involvement and leadership development on campus.
Kim Irvin, NTCC vice president of student services, praised Minter’s leadership and impact.
“Ja’Quacy has brought new energy and innovation to student life at NTCC,” Irvin said. “His election to this regional leadership role is a testament to his dedication to student success and the positive momentum he’s built through the Eagle Senate SGA. We are incredibly proud of him.”
Minter’s appointment as advisor-elect is a two-year commitment that includes training and support responsibilities before he assumes the full advisor role for Region III.
