In the spring of 2025, NTCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa decided to embark on a project to collect and preserve 40 stories. “Stories help us connect with others, they unite, divide, and shape us. They inspire us, make us laugh, remember, and cry. Preserving stories is saving the past; who we were, what we did, and how we did it.”
Andrew Higgins, Chapter Vice President of Honors in Action, has been spearheading the project, along with LaDarrius Patterson, Chapter Liaison with the Theatre Club. A number of other chapter members have helped with the interview process, including Araceli Landaverde, Cash Covey, Emma Mendoza, Hailey Randall, Jose Fuentes, Karen Hernandez, Rebeca Martinez, Sarah Hamlin, Stephanie Hernandez, and Xenia Esparza.
The “40 Years, 40 Stories, 40 Days” project will begin rolling out Monday October 6, shortly after the upcoming college’s 40th Anniversary Community Picnic. The chapter will release one video story a day, Monday through Friday, over the course of eight weeks.
