Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) and its Alpha Mu Chi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society welcomed student leaders and advisors from across the region for the PTK District III Meeting on Friday, August 28, 2026. Held in the HUM 101 Community Room, the day-long event focused on collaboration, leadership development, and strategic planning for the upcoming academic year.
The meeting kicked off with morning refreshments, featuring coffee and donuts provided by Kilgore College, before transitioning into a dynamic schedule of presentations and collaborative sessions led by participating chapters:
- Icebreaker & Team Building: Hosted by NTCC, “People Bingo” set an energetic and engaging tone for attendees. The winner won a certificate granting them “Bragging Rights.”
- Five Star Chapter Requirements: Presented by Texarkana College, detailed milestones and strategies to help chapters achieve PTK’s highest designation.
- College Project Strategies: Led by Paris Junior College, offered practical guidance on planning, proposing, and executing high-impact campus projects.
- True Colors Leadership Styles: Facilitated by Tyler Junior College (TJC), helped members identify their unique leadership strengths and collaborate effectively across personality types.
- Transfer Pathways & Honors Opportunities: Presented by Texas A&M University, Texarkana, highlighting exclusive PTK transfer benefits, scholarships, and Honors College opportunities.
- Keynote & International Leadership: José Fuentes presented "What's Next? Pursuing International Leadership," inspiring members to take their PTK journey beyond the regional level.
In addition to interactive presentations, chapters from across the district contributed to make the event a success. Attendees enjoyed lunch sliders provided by NTCC, chips from Texarkana College, cookies from Paris Junior College, and beverages provided by Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC). A popular selfie-light provided a fun way for attendees to take group and individual photos as a memento of the event.
For NTCC students interested in leadership opportunities, transfer scholarships, and community service projects, Alpha Mu Chi meets weekly throughout the semester: Every Monday at 12:30 PM, in the Biggers Room inside the Learning Resources Common.
All eligible and interested students are encouraged to attend a meeting to learn more about the benefits of membership and upcoming chapter initiatives.
