Alumni Spotlight: Reggie Peters

Reggie Peters

Reggie Peters graduated from Northeast Texas Community College in the summer of 1999 with an Associate of Arts in Theatre. During his time at Theatre Northeast, he performed in more than 10 productions, directed two summer plays, and later returned for an alumni production “Of Mice and Men”.

A graduate of Daingerfield High School, Reggie attended NTCC on a theatre scholarship and credits Theatre Northeast and longtime director Douglas Hoppock, affectionately known by students as "Papa," as one of the greatest influences on his life and career. The mentorship of Douglas and Sherry Hoppock, along with the lifelong friendships he formed at NTCC, made a lasting impact.

After NTCC, Reggie earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Arts in Theatre from Texas Woman's University. Reggie taught theatre for 10 years at both the secondary and college levels and continues to teach as an adjunct professor. He has also directed UIL One-Act Play productions, served as a contest manager and adjudicator, and now works in Human Resources, helping future educators become certified teachers.

Reggie remains grateful for the education, mentorship, and friendships he found at NTCC, which continue to influence his life and career.
