Art Department welcomes visiting artist Amanda Butler

Amanda Butler photo collage with texas elements

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will welcome Texas artist Amanda Butler for a September exhibition in the Whatley Center foyer. The exhibit will be on display Sept. 8-30.

A native Texan who currently resides in Gainesville, Butler studied photography at the New England School of Photography in Boston. Years of travel and photographing rustic subjects and places inspired her to begin combining her images into digital collages.

Butler’s work incorporates elements of nature, old handwriting, vintage advertising and historical documents to create distinctive compositions. Each piece brings together found imagery and photography to create a work unique to her artistic vision.

The public is invited to meet Butler at a closing reception Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 12:30-1:20 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Click here to view her Facebook page.
