Friends and family of Chuck and Sarah Johns recently made a generous $59,000 gift to establish the Chuck and Sarah Johns Memorial Scholarship at Northeast Texas Community College. The endowed scholarship will benefit students from Camp County, with a special emphasis on those pursuing degrees in education.

The check presentation took place during Aggie Muster, an event that was especially meaningful to Chuck. Those in attendance (from left) included Dr. Jon McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement; Wade Johns; Henrietta King, Frankie King, Casie Yantis, Charlie Yantis, Christian Yantis; and Nita May, Director of Development.

Chuck and Sarah Johns both passed away in 2025, leaving a lasting impact on the Northeast Texas community. At the time of his passing, Chuck was serving as Chairman of the NTCC Board of Trustees. Sarah was a longtime educator who dedicated her career to helping students succeed.

“We were all devastated to lose Chuck and Sarah so suddenly,” said Dr. Jon McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement. “This scholarship is a wonderful and lasting way to honor their legacy, and it will continue to make a difference in the lives of students for generations to come.”

The NTCC Foundation is grateful for the outpouring of support from those who knew and loved Chuck and Sarah, and for their commitment to investing in the future of local students.

Those who would like to contribute to the Chuck and Sarah Johns Memorial Scholarship can make a gift online by visiting www.ntcc.edu/give and designating their donation to the scholarship fund. Gifts may also be made through East Texas Giving Day at www.ntcc.edu/etgd through April 28th.
