Have you ever wondered whether passengers in a vehicle have the right to challenge a traffic stop under the Fourth Amendment? NTCC students will have the opportunity to explore this constitutional question during a unique, hands-on courtroom experience Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2027, at the United States District Courthouse in Tyler.

Sponsored by the NTCC Criminal Justice Program, the debate-style event will allow students to serve as attorneys, analyze a real case, develop legal arguments and present their positions in a federal courtroom setting. Participants will gain valuable experience in critical thinking, public speaking and persuasive communication while learning more about the judicial system.

Students from all majors are encouraged to participate. No prior legal experience is required. Participation is limited to students enrolled at NTCC during the spring 2027 semester, and space is limited.

Interested students can click here to learn more about the case, Brendlin v. California. If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact Elizabeth Bailey at ebailey@ntcc.edu.
