PTK chapter wins 23 awards at Texas Regional Convention
Northeast Texas Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Mu Chi, attended the Texas Regional Convention virtually this past weekend and returned with several awards. In addition, the chapter successfully campaigned for the Texas Region District III Vice President position. The elected representative, Cade Bennett, will take part in leadership training, public speaking opportunities, and travel throughout the state.
College closed March 15-19 for Spring Break
Northeast Texas Community College will be closed March 15-19 for Spring Break. While offices will be closed, there is still time to sign up for 2nd 8-week spring classes online at www.ntcc.edu/registernow. Classes for that session begin Monday, March 22.
A&M-Texarkana offers assistance, fee waiver
Daisy Bates, Admissions application Coordinator of Transfer Student Programs at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, will be assisting students in the Career and transfer center (BT 111B) on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. she help with applications, take transcripts and waive the $30 application fee. The event is hosted by the NTCC Career and Transfer Center.
New edition of Honors newsletter published
Since 2008, the honors program of NTCC has published a biannual newsletter. The recently released 2021 January edition is now available on the college website: https://www.ntcc.edu/academics/honors-northeast/newsletters.

NTCC Softball sweeps Eastern Oklahoma

Northeast Texas Community College Softball traveled to Wilburton, Oklahoma to take on Eastern Oklahoma State College in a two-game series. NTCC would take game one 8-2 and game two 14-9. The series sweep brings the NTCC win streak to five straight games as they head into conference play next week.

NTCC drops series with Panola

Northeast Texas Community College Baseball returned home on Saturday after a series of weather-related cancellations to take on the Panola Ponies in a conference matchup. While the weather was great, the day would not go the Eagles way as Panola defeated NTCC 6-2 in game one and 9-3 in game two to get the series sweep.

The Northeast Texas Community College Honors Program will host a premiere of its ninth feature-length student film on Friday, March 26 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room (Humanities 129). This year’s film, PILGRIMage, a Story aBOut Northeast Texas, examines the story of Bo Pilgrim, the controversial founder of Pilgrim’s Pride. Was he a philanthropist who created jobs and boosted the economy of Northeast Texas?
