NTCC's PTA PROGRAM

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC), located in Mount Pleasant, Texas, offers an accelerated pathway to a rewarding career in physical therapy. At just 17 months in length, NTCC is home to the shortest Physical Therapist Assistant Program in Texas, allowing students to complete their professional education and enter the workforce sooner.

The program typically admits a cohort of 16 students each year, creating a small-group learning environment that encourages collaboration, individualized instruction, and meaningful relationships with faculty and classmates. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, and supervised clinical education, students develop the knowledge, technical skills, and clinical reasoning necessary to provide safe and effective patient care.

Working under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistants play an important role in helping patients improve mobility, restore function, manage pain, and achieve their rehabilitation goals. NTCC's PTA Program is committed to preparing competent, compassionate, and professional graduates who are ready to serve patients and contribute to the healthcare needs of Northeast Texas and surrounding communities.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and are eligible to sit for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for Physical Therapist Assistants as part of the licensure process.
