Veterans and Dependents Benefits Process
Apply for Chapters 33; 30; 35; 1606; and 1607 benefits. Apply online at www.va.gov. Under Benefits click on Education and Training; click on For Students; click on Get Started; and then click on Apply for Benefits.
The goal of the application is to obtain a: Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
Once you have registered for your classes, bring the following documents to the VA Coordinator, located in the Admissions Office to open your VA file.
- Confirmation number or Certificate of Eligibility (COE) – bring in the COE when you receive it in the mail
- Your DD Form 214 (Member 4 copy showing your Discharge) or if you are in the Reserves or National Guard, a NOBE (Notice of Basic Benefits Eligibility) from your Reserve or Guard unit
- For Chapter 35, please bring a copy of the Veterans DD Form 214
- Copy of your Student Schedule & Bill (SS&B) from the Cashier’s Office, located adjacent to Financial Aid (Not what you print off from Apache Access)
You will complete an Enrollment Certification Request Form (ECRF) so you can be certified for your classes. The VA Coordinator will certify you for your classes utilizing the ECRF.
To be certified for your classes ONLY register for classes that are shown on your degree plan.
Certification at NTCC is on the 12th Class Day (The Official Reporting Day for the Fall and Spring semesters) and on the 4th Class Day (The Official Reporting Day for the Summer sessions).
In order to be certified for your classes each semester, you MUST complete an Enrollment Certification Request Form (ECRF) and have your Student Schedule & Bill from the Cashier’s Office.
For Chapters 30, 1606 and 1607 you will need to verify your attendance to the VA in Muskogee, OK. The VA requires notification every month in order to ensure your payment. Monthly verification is not necessary for Chapters 33 and 35.
