Helen Hampton and her late husband Charlie dedicated their entire professional careers to education, so it only made sense that they would continue to do so in retirement. Since moving back home to Northeast Texas in the mid 1990s, the Hamptons have contributed to scholarships and†cultural events at Northeast Texas Community College. From helping students achieve their dreams of a college education to sponsoring high-quality entertainment at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts, the Hamptons are among the college?s††most prolific donors.
Team Arise gives NTCC veteran scholarship
Michael Brown (left) recently gave $500 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation on behalf of his organization, Team Arise. The funds will provide a scholarship to NTCC students who are veterans or children of veterans. Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the gift. Carroll Shelby Foundation gives $25,000 for NTCC scholarships
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $25,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The donation will provide scholarships for students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at NTCC. Dr. Jonathan McCullough (second from right), NTCC Vice President for Advancement, accepted the gift.
Cartwright Community Center board gives to scholarship
The Cartwright Community Center Board recently contributed $1,000 to the Ralph Whatley Agriculture Scholarship at Northeast Texas Community College. The community center was recently sold and funds from the sale were distributed to several local organizations.
Perrymans sponsor scholarship reception
Richard and Margaret Perryman recently presented a $3,000 check to Nita May (right), Director of Development, Northeast Texas Community College.† The funds will be used to underwrite the NTCC Foundation Annual Scholarship Reception.† The reception is held on the NTCC campus each fall and allows scholarship recipients to meet the donors who made their award possible. In addition to helping NTCC with scholarships themselves, the Perrymans have been underwriting the Scholarship Reception for more than 10 years.
Progressive Women's Organization gives $1,000 for NTCC scholarships
The Progressive Women's Organization of Mount Pleasant recently presented $1,000 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation to provide two scholarships for students majoring in education. The donation was given in memory of Verner Cornelius, a longtime local educator. Members from the group are pictured presenting a check to Nita May, NTCC Director of Development (third from right).
Tonya Taylor gives memorial nursing scholarships
Tonya Taylor, Assistant Professor of Nursing at Northeast Texas Community College, recently gave $1,200 to the NTCC Foundation to provide two scholarships for nursing students. The gift was given in memory of Margie Bragg, an NTCC Nursing graduate from Mount Pleasant who worked in the field for many years. Taylor noted that she hopes the scholarships will help carry on the caring spirit Bragg gave every day. Taylor is pictured above with Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement.
Texas Pioneer Foundation supports NTCC Work Scholarship Program
The Texas Pioneer Foundation recently awarded a $40,000 grant to support the Work Scholarship Program at Northeast Texas Community College. Cinco de Mayo on the Square raises $10,000 for NTCC scholarships
ALAS (Amigos Latinos Al Servicio) of Mount Pleasant recently presented a check for $10,000 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. The funds were used to create a perpetual $500 scholarship to be awarded to a first generation college student attending NTCC.
The money for the scholarship was raised at the first annual ALAS Cinco de Mayo on the Square event that was held May 2 downtown Mount Pleasant.
Tommy Lee Biker Run donates $5,000 for NTCC scholarships
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a gift for $5,000. These funds were raised at the annual Tommy Lee Memorial Biker Run and will be used to provide scholarships to Camp County students attending NTCC.
