The NTCC Carroll Shelby Automotive Program will honor the memory of Carroll Shelby this weekend with several events. The festivities will kick off with a Dyno Day on Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shelby Automotive building on the NTCC campus. Anyone who wants to test out the performance of their vehicle is welcome. The cost is $40 for 15 minutes on the Dyno machine, first-come-first-served.
The NTCC Continuing Education and Corporate Training program will host two free Senior Adult Legal Workshops on Friday, May 20 and Friday, Jun 17. Both events will be held in the NTCC Community Room (Humanities building) from 9 a.m. to noon.
The program is designed for individuals 55 and older, or anyone who wants to learn more about estate planning, wills and advanced directives. The speaker will be Wyatt Hinson, Attorney at Law. Different content will be presented at each session, so you are encouraged to sign up for both dates.
Members of the Northeast Texas Community College Business Club recently presented two $500 checks to the NTCC Foundation. The donation will provide two business students with a scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Medical Assistant Program at NTCC has extended the deadline for 2022-2023 applications through July 31, 2022. Every semester full-time and associate faculty in NTCC’s Division of Math, Physics and Engineering can select an outstanding student, who is exceptional in some way. For the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, Mathematics Professor Dr. Jackie Johnston nominated Tasha Helena Gaspar of Lone Star.
The Northeast Texas Community College Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Three new students recently graduated from the program. The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation was the top fundraiser for East Texas Giving Day 2022. Finishing the night with $135,300, NTCC raised more than almost 300 nonprofits from across 32 East Texas Counties. NTCC also finished fifth place for the total number of donations with 140 gifts.
“We really just can’t thank everyone enough for their support. There are so many wonderful nonprofits that participate in East Texas Giving Day and the fact that so many chose to give to NTCC is humbling,” Nita May, NTCC Director of Development, said.
