The Northeast Texas Community College Enactus team (formerly SIFE or Students in Free Enterprise) has been selected to participate in the Lowe?s Community Improvement Project Partnership. Through this program sponsored by Lowe?s Charitable and Educational Foundation, the Enactus team will create and execute projects to enhance and develop communities.

The NTCC Enactus team learned of a community need and jumped on the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.††The Kids360 house will soon re-open their doors to assist displaced local children ages 0-19. The Enactus team learned that the house was in need of a fire alarm pull system. The team stepped in and applied for a Lowe?s Community Improvement Project Partnership and was awarded a $2,000 grant for the project. †

This is the third year for the Lowe?s Community Improvement Project Partnership to partner with Enactus United States. Through the initiative, Enactus teams across the United States will develop creative, sustainable programs that improve communities and community spaces. NTCC?s Enactus team is among 50 teams participating in this grant opportunity.

?Our Enactus team is excited about the opportunity to assist the Kids360 board in making the home as safe as possible for the children and employees? said Joy Cooper, Co-Sponsor of NTCC?s Enactus team, ?We are excited to be a part of this successful initiative targeted to those in need and very proud of our students and their desire to improve the quality of life of others and know this is an experience they will take with them as they embark upon future endeavors." †

All 50 teams will compete for additional grant awards. The top five Enactus teams will be announced in May during the Enactus United States National Exposition, taking place in Kansas City, MO. All finalists will receive an additional $5,000 grant to continue their community improvement effort.
