The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Eagles Baseball program is off to a rocky start after losing its season openers Friday and Saturday to Hill College and Cedar Valley Community College in non-conference play.

According to Assistant Coach Shane Wedd, Friday's game was the first chance that many of the players had to play in a regular season game and, despite these early setbacks, he is optimistic about the team's potential this season.

"It was a valuable learning experience for them, they competed very well and we will be working to be ready for the next game" said Wedd.

Team members were disappointed with the losses, but maintained their resolve to turn the experience they gained and the lessons they learned into future victories this season.

?We can definitely do better, we know how talented we are, we just have to get back out there. I am going to do my best to train better so I can perform better for my team. We have to put this behind us and keep moving forward," said freshman pitcher Jake Moore.

The Eagles will host three games next weekend against Pratt Community College. The first pitch will be thrown at 6 p.m. on Friday for a nine-inning game, followed by a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday and another nine-inning game on†Sunday. †They play Hill College at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12th at home before hosting their first annual NTCC Baseball Tournament February 14-16.
