Eagles Baseball continues winning streak

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team dominated Pratt Community College this weekend, winning four out of four games.

The highlight of the series was a 12-run shutout Saturday evening pitched by Tim Winders. Friday?s game was a series of back and forth runs every inning with local pitcher Brandon Colbert from Pittsburg pitching the lion's share of the game. Colbert racked up eight strikeouts in four-and-a-half innings. The Eagles won Friday?s game 15-9.

Dalton Algiene led the Eagles during Saturday?s first game, with Tanner Buxton picking up two innings. The Eagles took an early lead and picked up two runs in the second and third inning to win the game 5-2. Sunday saw the closest score of the series, with the Eagles winning the game 6-5 in nine innings with a walk off.

Pitching Coach Aaron Gilbreath said that the team ran into a few problems early on but came together by the second game of the series.

?The first night was a struggle, but we worked through the stiffness and the our pitching was fantastic the last three games. It was awesome to see how energized the team can get, how guys on the bench who aren?t even playing are supporting their teammates, there is a lot of buy-in on the team and that is pretty cool to see,? Gilbreath said.

The Eagles baseball team will battle it out with Grayson college at 2 p.m. on Friday in Grayson before returning home to face them again at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Hutchinson Community College will travel to NTCC for a three-day series against the Eagles starting 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20.
