Agriculture is not just about farming or production agriculture ? although I am proud to be called a farmer.† Historically, what we all first think of when we say agriculture jobs might just be the farmer pictured. †However, the true future of agriculture will be wrapped in one HUGE challenge.† How do we provide, transport to and feed 9 billion people on the earth by the year 2050 and†not†destroy or use up more of our dwindling natural resources to do it?† That means that we will have to increase our†current food available by 70%!† Wouldn?t we all love to be working for an industry that has projected sales increases like that!† Today the world of opportunities in Agriculture is so much more!

We are busy registering students at NTCC for Spring 2016 Semester. I have been visiting with parents and students and as always the question of "What do you want to be when you grow up?" comes up. So many of our students are being pushed into job options that they do not have a clear picture of just what the job description would be.

In the agriculture department at NTCC we don't just talk the talk -- we LIVE IT! Our program is entirely hands on and that with our excellent instructors are our greatest asset. Add that to the fact that there will be close to 60,000 jobs opening EACH YEAR in the ag related fields over the next five years (See article:†employment opportunities for college graduates) and you have a perfect opportunity to do what most parents and students want... get an excellent, affordable educational experience that results in a JOB that meets the student?s needs AND passion. If you would like to discuss your options -- drop by and see us at the ag complex! You can also contact us at 903-434-8267, or follow us on facebook at NTCC Ag Department.
