NTCC Ag students attend conference, win awards

Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture students traveled to Texas State University in San Marcos to attend and compete at the 50th Annual Texas Junior College Agriculture Consortium April 1-3.





The following students competed in various competitions such as quizzes, public relations, job interview, scrapbook: Blake Rice, of Gilmer; Shelby Spigener, of Mount Pleasant; Cyruss Ragsdale, of Alba; Kelsie Tetzlaff, of Pittsburg; Wacey Newman, of Quitman; Cheyenne Lee, of Mount Pleasant; and Lake Presley of Mount Pleasant.





Students earned the following awards: First Place - Public Relations Team (Spigener, Rice, Presley), Third Place - Ag Construction Quiz (Presley), Third Place - Ag Economics (Rice), Third Place - Scrapbook (Tetzlaff, Lee, Newman). In addition, Presley served as TJCAA sentinel during the event.

Each year, TJCAA Texas junior colleges with agriculture programs prepare students to compete and come together to share ideas, network, and meet with the ACT or Agriculture Consortium of Texas that is made up of 4 year agriculture colleges.
